Introduction:

Sports are a necessary part of life.  Just as education is to the mind, games are to the body.  Sports and games have become an integral part of education.  Playing games gives a lot of benefits like providing recreation for students, making them active and energetic, building their bodies strong, and keeping them healthy. 

Sports and Games:

Playing sports makes our minds fresh and strong.  If a student plays for some time and then starts to study, he can concentrate more on books.  This is because his mind becomes fresh after playing.  Evenings after school are the best times for them to play.  Children can play in the park or the playground nearby with their friends.  Playing for a long time avoiding studies is not a good decision.  At the same time, studying for a long time like a book worm avoiding sports makes him dull.  The student has to maintain a healthy balance between games and studies.

Good recreation activities:

Some students are always dedicated to studying.  But fun and play are also important for their growth.  Both Studies and sports should be balanced and go hand in hand.  There should be some recreational activities for them to avoid getting bored.  Games provide the best form of recreation activity.  Nowadays children do not find time to play sports and games.  But the certain time of play activities should be given importance for their health and mind.

Importance of sports:

Playing sports makes the children active and energetic.  It makes their muscles and bodies strong and keeps them healthy.  It is a form of recreation for students.  The importance of sports has been fully realized by people nowadays. Sports clubs are started to teach and practice sports to children.  Schools are giving importance to the health and fitness of the students.  So sports are given higher value and made compulsory in schools.  The values that they learn from sports builds a person’s character. The concentration levels of children also increase.

Learning from sports:

Children learn lots of qualities from playing sports.  Sports teach them the following:

  • Obedience:  Obeying the rules of the game and the team captain
  • Team spirit:  Working as a team  to succeed as one thought
  • Unity of purpose: Being united in winning the sports
  • Sportsmanship:  Accepting both success and defeat with a smile
  • Punctuality:  Following the timeline in sports
  • Strong will:  Will power to fight for victory

Advantages of participating in sports:

Sports help us to have good health always.  It always keeps our body fit.  Every human being wants their body to be fit with good health.  While playing any sports, our body becomes active and fit.  Sports like cricket, tennis, hockey, football, kabaddi, Kho Kho are played in common and it provides exercise to the body.  When we learn to play these games, our mind gets sharpened and we acquire many skills from this.  Playing sports improve our digestive system and prevent us from many diseases.

Sportsmanship:

A sportsman loves to play sports.  He likes to have fair play.  He wants to maintain a friendship with other sportsmen.  A sportsman accepts success and failure with a smile and without regret on anybody.  This makes him strong enough to face any difficulty in life.  Nowadays, Government has allocated a sports quota for jobs.  Good players who have made a mark in sports are given jobs under this quota.

Sports are as important as our studies.  Playing sports is the most important recreation activity.  Time spent on sports is a valuable investment as it helps to maintain good health and body fit.  Both physical and mental education is important.  It helps in the overall development of one’s personality.  Physical training teachers are appointed in every school to teach sports to children and they create enthusiasm in sports.  Constant coaching is required in shaping good sportsmen.
